embracing the mission to save the earth, this page shall record and remind readers the nitty-gritty one can commit to in everyday life to step closer to having a better world. your effort is indeed small, but still, it’s still an effort that is admirable. so, DO IT! and encourage others to do the same!

  • during showering/washing, turn off the tap when u’re cleanin yourself with soap/shampoo (a-hem, sarah san… hahah, and the customers of Chong Pang 2-in-1 steamboat eatery!)
  • use just enough toilet paper for clean-ups (a~hem…)
  • minimize take-aways, or bring your own container to contain the food.  same applies to coffee, use your own coffee mug!
  • use less plastic bags, or rather, use them wisely and efficiently, such as using to store rubbish to their maximum capacity.
  • reduce using the air conditioner, battle the heat with fans but not alleviate its temper.
  • off fans and lights when not in use (a-hem, sis fir!)
  • take the stairs
  • use less disposables
  • public transport than private transport
  • buy refill pack for food, shower gel/cream, shampoo….
  • use laptops instead of desktop pc. the former consumes less energy
  • if u’re using an electric airpot with 3 ways of dispensing hot water, i urge u to use the manual air pump instead of the soft  touches functions to save energy. well, i noe it’s small, but it helps!
  • While mac-ing (i.e. dining at Mcdonald’s): we usually take more than enuff (either intentionally or accidentally) paper napkins, so to save resource, we should bring the clean and extra paper towels away with us, and save them for future use. there’s always the next meal in which u’ll need these napkins! (n also, when u share them with others, u can explain to them y u’re doing so, and thus, spread the green message! 1 stone kills 2 birdies!)

** Australian Bush Fire **

While the world is raging over the touching picture of a firefighter feeding water to a parched and scorched paw koala, we gotta seriously think about what’s happening in actuality and what are the dire implications and meanings embedded in this image. Besides aww-ing the cuteness of the koala and the compassion of the volunteer fireman, the more crucial action would be to think of their surrounding and the sequential events that are leading to this particular situation where the picture was taken (well, let’s leave some less important questionings behind).

The reasons behind the expanding scale of this devastating fires in the region are kinda known but not spoken widely. this is an international issue, the global climate change; i just wish that the worldwide affection for Sam, the scorched paw koala, can also ensue as a worldwide concern for the global warming issue.

we should think about what’s leading to the rising mercury, who are the contributors, even at the minutest bit, to this ugly scene,  and also the impacts these actions of the contributors are resulting to.

think about:

we are in one world. what happens to the world equates to what happens to us human beings. it may take a cycle, but no doubt they can surely come to you. it may be a pretty large idea thrown to you, nonetheless you’ve gotta face it. think of the earth as your home.

we are all culprits. No one has zero ecological footprints. but what makes a duper small population more forgivable is that they uphold a high degree of moral values to take care of the earth, to think of the earth as their home.  it is a question on the level of ethics towards nature, but trust me, you know when u are really being green when u are, it is your conscience and you should noe it. think bout it.

the (little) convenience and/or comfort you’d gotten over consumption can lead to a irreversible international problems. the bushfire (including loss of animal lives and their habitats, and human lives) is just one of the many. just paint a picture of the future, which is pretty conceivable judging from the current really freaky weather conditions around the world. think about the everyday in which people are dying from heat stoke, heat waves and killed by tsunamis, flooding, typhoons, becomes a norm. think about the world being barren, with warm water level submerging most of the low lands and the remaining land masses are smoking hot like a pizza.

The 2009 Victorian bushfires, started since february 2009, invovle over 330 000 hectures of burnt land and cost 181 human lives.

i would hav to disagree with some minor points.

- i use a lot of toilet paper, but i more than make up for it by using n writing on double-sided notes, reusing A4 papers.

- i do a lot of takeaways (da-bpao), but more than make up for it by savin all d soap n water required to clean all the utensils cleanlie.

- i use lots of plastic bags but i hardly or never buy plastic products.

- aircon is vital to me, more effective than fans, n keeps d mozzies n dusts away. that way, healthier livin is more possible. life over earth.

- i gotta on fans n lights often, or else fall n bruise badly like the other day tripped in e dark. fans are necessary for air circulation in order to breathe better.

victorian fires, while cruel, aktualli leads to increased soil fertility, similar to slash-n-burn cultivations learnt by bushmen tribes centuries ago :)
